An advanced search gives options for entering specific information in different fields. This will limit the amount of results that are returned on your search terms. For example you may want a DVD, or an item from the Deaf Culture collection with a keyword of drama.
The advanced search option is available to the right of the search box
Enter any details in the available fields. Eg Title, Author
The red box highlights the types of resources the library holds. If you are looking for an eBook, or website etc you would select this here. Please note, all books are called "monograph"
The green box highlights the branches - you can select van Asch library here. This would stop items from other branches (Kelston) from showing.
The collections field lists the different collections in the library. If you specifically want a resource from the picture book collection, it can be highlighted here.
To select more than one field from the drop down menus (type, branch, collection) - hold down the shift/option keys (Macs) or the control key (PC) and click on each required field.
When you have finished entering search details click the search button or enter.
In this example; "frog" was entered in the title field, "Monograph" was selected for Type of resource as a book is required, and two branches were selected as shown below.
The search results are shown below:
The search can be modified further if required.
The top row shows the number of search results - 74. These results are showing using 'best matching' and 'relevance' (red boxes), these can be changed by clicking on the down arrows and selecting from the available options.
The items in the black box are a summary of our search, by clicking on the x you can remove these search terms to broaden the search.
The green box allows further changes eg only show Available items by clicking on this term.
The search can also be narrowed further (Orange Box) by collection, author etc. Click on the + sign and select as required.
